Recent study conducted on children states that those children who drink water having high level of
manganese
had lower IQs when compared to those that drink water containing lower level of
manganese
. An unexpected toxin was found in
manganese
which affects children's intellectual ability. Although the research didn't mentioned any result on adults, but obviously you surely don't want be the victim of the test. So, use filters or water purifying systems to remove
manganese
from your drinking water.
What is
manganese
? How do
manganese
get into the drinking water?
manganese
is a naturally occurring element basically found in soil at certain locations that is simply passed on to groundwater. Even though a small amount of it is essential for human body, exposure to it in large amount can cause neurological disorders, especially in children. Health organizations, however, has concluded that
manganese
is the least toxic element.
manganese
dissolves in water while irrigating farmlands or during the rainfalls. The water carries it through the ground till it reaches the groundwater. It reaches houses through deep well water supply and thus get into the drinking water.
What are its health effects?
In spite of its use in tracing minerals in human body, in larger amount the
manganese
can affect neurological balance which is irreversible.
manganese
in drinking water
should not exceed 0.05 mg/L. If exceeded, the
manganese
may result in liver damage or other related diseases. A research was conducted on children with age group between 6 and 13 years who are drinking water that contains high volume of
manganese
and those that does not. It showed that the brain functioning of those who were drinking water containing
manganese
was affected.
What to do now?
Most of the municipal corporations are already made aware about the presence of
manganese
in drinking water by now. However, you may not want to put your family in risk because your local municipal corporation is not aware about it or taken any steps further. Moreover, many filters are already available in the market which you can purchase anytime and get 100% safe drinking water. Swiss Cleanwater Group also offers a range of filters implementing sophisticated water treatment technology to make drinking water pure. Place your order now!
