The beautiful city of Schmalkalden was where everything started. Schmalkalden is situated on the southwest slopes of the Thuringian Forest, around nine kilometers from the famous Rennsteig hiking trail, and the hometown of where our Cleanwater Technology was created.

A little history before the technology

The young and dynamic Landgrave Philip, who reigned during the time of the Reformation, was responsible for putting Schmalkalden on the map of European history by his decision to support Martin Luther.  Martin Luther presented his Schmalkaldic Articles, which in 1580 were officially recognized as the confessions of the Lutheran Protestant church, and which even today form the basis upon which Lutheran pastors are ordained.   From the 14th century onward, rich ore deposits, mining and ironworking formed the cornerstones of the town's thriving economy. The town was also well known for the production of tools and small iron goods that were exported far beyond around the world.

The town's academic institutes also have a good reputation. Around 3,000 students attend Schmalkalden's University of Applied Sciences, studying subjects such as mechanical and electrical engineering, IT and business economics.

One of its students was Roy Dietsch, one of the inventors of the Cleanwater Technology conducted a study in Schmalz-kalden, the result was the start of the Clean Water Machine. During this time he met the founders and investors of the Clean Water Technology, Erich Sager and Kim Weis Hansen. The group worked on a putting a business plan to develop the one of kind machine that would provide the most clean and healthy water.  They worked on obtaining worldwide patents and the first of its kind water-treatment systems were developed and sold.

After the first impressive feedback from the customer’s, the Management of the company decided that times were right to open new markets in the whole world. Right away installations took place in Singapore, Middle East, India, Africa and China.  The decision of installing the Swiss Cleanwater Machines in these regions confirmed that they were right.  Base on the results of these projects, the Swiss Water Group history and company philosophy were created:
