After years of expansion in the North and South American markets, and the recent surge in water treatment demand from Africa, SCG is now looking towards China that has some of the most ambitious water projects the world has ever seen. The water crisis in China has seen the water table under the capital dropping by more than 300 metres (almost 1,000 feet) since the 1970s. China is simply consuming water at an unsustainable rate. Water efficiency in China is rather low, only about 40% is used, which is about half of that of Europe. The market for water reuse in China is growing tremendously, and therefore Swiss Cleanwater Group is publishing a feasibility study into the Chinese market. The feasibility study will cover the current state of water in China, what competition there exists, potential gaps in the market, and the solutions that are needed.
