Iron in drinking water |
Summary: Iron in drinking water can have several health effects. Although iron is a common compound found in drinking water, yet water should be filtered adequately of the iron to make it completely fit for drinking.Iron in drinking water can come from two major sources. First, the iron can come from the groundwater supply as iron is one of the abundant compounds in earth's crust. Second, the iron can mix in drinking water from the corrosion of the iron supply lines that supply drinking water. Generally, the iron level in drinking water is seldom above 10 mg/L, however, as little iron as 0.3 mg/L can turn water into a turbid reddish brown appearance. The problem of iron in drinking water is intensifying with every passing day as we on earth are digging deeper into groundwater every day to find available water. We have to necessarily dig deeper because of the depleting ground water levels in drinking water. The groundwater level is depleting because of the increasing demand on groundwater for drinking water purposes. This problem is not limited to any particular region of the planet, as the earth makes no discrimination between nations. This is a global problem that requires immediate attention. The iron levels in drinking water can be essentially purified by using machines designed for the purpose. Such machines have already been developed, that measure the degree of contamination or turbidity in water level and takes adequate steps to get rid of the contaminants and provide pure recycled drinking water. Even the problem of iron in drinking water can be rectified using these machines for the purpose. These ideal machines are immediate requirements of the present time and are a necessity of the future. To be future ready, the machines should necessarily have low power consumption, no use of chemicals and no waste water release during the process of purification. Apart from that, these machines to filter iron in drinking water should have low ownership cost, should be compact and easy to install and should definitely be advanced than the prevalent techniques of purifying water.
